Volunteers Needed

Travel team soccer is set to begin on Saturday September 11th. Your player's coach and team information as well as specific game and practice times will be forwarded to you by your coach once the coaches are in place toward the end of the coming week. This is an exciting time as the season begins for players, families and the WYSL board.

The WYSL board is composed of an all-volunteer group who are dedicated to the concept of helping the children of Watertown grow in their love for soccer and to develop the individual and team skills needed to play it. Many board members also take on other roles including coach, referee, representative to Watertown's league, BAYS. Many have served WYSL in a variety of roles for as many as 15 years and some have been moved to join in the common work more recently.

We are in need of your help now to help this season get started. There a few specific and important roles needing to be filled. Individuals can take on one of the following volunteer jobs:

  • Field Coordination: Requires coordinating game times for Watertown with it's league, BAYS. This can be done via the internet and will include some emailing, phone calls. Most of your time will be needed now but also occasionally during the season to reschedule games as necessary.
  • Setting up and taking down goals: At the start of each weekend and at the end of each weekend. This is a required task as WYSL shares the field with multiple other Watertown sports and organizations and WYSL must take care of equipment it has paid for itself. You will receive 1/2 registration free for one child this season if you do one task or entire registration free for this season if you both put up and take down the goals each weekend.
  • End of year organizer for WYSL party and gifts: Each year at the end of spring season, WYSL has provided gifts such as soccer clothing or other soccer gear to each player and also put on a celebrative event that has included soccer games and food. Bring your ideas and skills to this importantant task.

We need you to respond to this call. Please contact me with questions and to volunteer.
